Spurge
The structure and arrangement of the components within the installation "Spurge" contain underlying meaning. A pattern language of simplified shapes is derived from the growth structures of parasitic organisms. Decorative curved forms may appear to be benign, but are actually a stylized representation of a Stachybotrys Atra spore. The colors and the subsequent combinations are playful, lurid, almost pretty, but there is a hint of underlying decay and ugliness. There is a malignancy inherent in the work; it cannot just inhabit a space - it must invade and overwhelm.
